Neighbourhood Community Network

  • To promote neighbourhood forums and their networks at various levels to ensure effective participation and control by people
  • Special focus on poor, women and other disadvantaged groups so as to enable them for effective participation as equals
  • Participatory governance realised through multi-tier federation of neighbourhood parliaments
Neighbourhood Community Network, NCN, is a secular non-governmental organisation committed to promoting the concept of neighbourhood parliaments. The working office is at Nagercoil, a municipal town and headquarters of Kanyakumari District, the southernmost district of India.

NCN envisions a world where, through multi-tier global federation of neighbourhood parliaments, people are in control of governance processes and thus ensure their well-being and dignity. NCN promotes inclusive neighbourhood parliaments of children and their federations, whose objective is to foster child leadership in strategic programme development, interventions and advocacy actions at local, state and regional levels enabling equal opportunity and inclusive participation of children.

NCN works through an alliance of NGOs, CBOs, institutions and interested individuals especially those working among the most marginalised, excluded and discriminated communities in the states of Tamilnadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh & Maharashtra.
