Holy Cross Service Society was established by Dr. S. Prabakar Immanuel who is presently the Executive Director and Secretary of the Society. It was started in the year 1984 when rural programmes were not available, to promote innovative services to all categories of disabled. It is engaged in the disability field providing comprehensive services to nearly 2700 disabled. 

Education support is provided in rural and urban areas through regular schools and pre - school for mainstreaming children with disabilities. Children with autism, learning disability, deaf blindness, multi handicapped, cognitively delayed and children with special needs are supported through individual intervention plans. Transitional support services through non formal education to all dropout children including children with disabilities are provided.

Assessment and therapy are provided for CWD's. Production of materials and printing of books / brochures in South Indian languages and English for parents, educators, special educators and CBR workers. CBR services in rural locations is concentrated.

The project is a comprehensive approach to the needs of PWD’s including the major needs of Advocacy, Awareness, Assistive devices, Social inclusion, Education, Prevention, Cure, Vocational skills development, Rehabilitation and Networking of all stake holders. The objectives have clearly established parameters of quality of services and individual based intervention plan through professional workers with support of family and community. 

Quality control measure through ongoing evaluation, case review committee meetings and parents support groups will be able to identify any difficulties in ensuring quality, so that remedial measures can be planned. Holy Cross Service Society is supported by CBM from 1992.
