Since its inception, Madonna College for the Deaf College has catered to the empowerment of 620 deaf students/persons with hearing impairment . The CBM support to the Madonna group of institutions started in 1998 and the new project Madonna Comprehensive Resource Centre was initiated in 2017.
CBM has been supporting the capacity enhancement of students with disabilities in all the Madonna group of institutions. The Madonna College for the Deaf is part of this new project. One of the components under this project is job placement of young adults who are deaf/persons with hearing impairment. Since 2017 there are a total of 78 boys and 35 girls who are deaf/persons with hearing impairment, placed in private/public companies’/government sectors in different designations. Employment has led them to become independent citizens leading and managing their own lives with dignity. Right to education ensured. Improved self-esteem & self-confidence. Broken the barrier and have good friends among others without disability. Those employed have improved their economic status and earn a monthly income between INR 8500 to INR 15000 based on the nature of the job.
