Story of Naveen

Naveen is standing on his own feet in front of his class, leading his classmates in a Kannada literacy lesson under the watchful eye of his teacher.

Until the age of five, Naveen was confined to his bed. At that time, he had a life-changing surgery, followed by training through a CBM programme implemented by Mobility India.

Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant (RTA) Kavitha patiently worked with him on a one-to-one basis, teaching him how to stand, balance and walk. He also received therapy twice daily, and appliances such as a ‘push cart’ to help him get around.
It is thanks to all-round devotion to his cause from Kavitha, his parents and his school teacher, as well as his own gritty determination that Naveen now walks without support to school every day with his friends.
On World Disability Day last year, Naveen was given an award by the District Disability Welfare Office for being that year’s ‘most improved service user.' A fitting tribute, indeed
