Study to analyse inclusive education system in Madhya Pradesh

As part of the Include Vidya campaign in Madhya Pradesh, a survey was conducted to understand what children think about their counterparts with disabilities and inclusive education.  A questioner was developed, covering various aspects of inclusive education and needs of children with disabilities and a survey was conducted in 15 schools of Chatarpur, Tikamgar, Murena, Bhind, Chhindwara, Indore, Khandwa, Dhar & Badwani.
Outcome of the study
As per the results of the study, there is a need to change attitudes towards disability and this is not possible without the support of teachers and school management.  It is necessary to sensitize teachers and school management about the importance of education for children with disabilities.

District level workshops

Districts level workshops were organised in association with livelihood forums in Barwani, Khandwa and Chhatarpur on inclusive education for children with disabilities in their particular community. The purpose of these workshops  was to build the capacity of DPO members on inclusive education and its importance to address the issues of children with disabilities. Information on Rights of Education Act and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) are also shared in the workshop. After the workshop, it was agreed that they would also raise this issue and sensitive parents to send their children to mainstream schools.
