Harmony of Hope Concert

In September 2013 a concert to raise funds for education of children with disabilities was organised by CBM India and CBM Italy in partnership with Bethany Society, a disability-inclusive school in Shillong, Meghalaya, a north-eastern state in India

The concert ‘Harmony of Hope’ touched the heart of people in Shillong, proved the power of music and ability of people with disabilities.

CBM Italy and CBM India organised a musical concert in partnership with Bethany Society to raise funds for education of children with disabilities in Shillong, Meghalaya a northeast state of India on 2 September 2013. The event took place in St Anthony’s college auditorium, with the presence of more than 800 music lovers.

The featured performer was Cesare Picco, the famous Italian pianist and CBM Italy Goodwill Ambassador. Cesare Picco is also the author of Blind Date  -  Concert in the dark.

The Rock band and choir of Jyoti Sroat School, the inclusive school managed by Bethany Society, showcased the talents of people with disabilities and moved the emotions of the audience. Along with Bethany choir, the popular Bands of northeast Na Rympei, Aroha Choir and 4th Element joined hands to express their solidarity for people with disability.

Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma; Home Minister, Ms. Roshan Warjri, and Urban Affairs Minister, Ms Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, of Meghalaya were also present at the concert.
The concert took place between 6.00pm to 8.30pm. The guests and spectators enjoyed and supported the show from the beginning till the end. Addressing the occasion, the Chief Minister said “It’s an amazing experience and definitely an eye opener for us” and he also assured everyone present that the “Government will always support people with disability”.

The Concert was a great success for the CBM family and shows once again that, 'together we can do more'
