Mr. A. Gnanasekar, Public Prosecutor of Kanyakumari District, flagged the rally.

Twenty-five riders are literally hitting the road for a three-day rally to draw attention to the need for inclusive education to enable children with disabilities access their right to education in mainstream schools.

These riders with a cause are volunteers carrying recommendations created by organisations, teachers, parents and children for improving implementation of inclusive education as a part of a CBM India’s multi-stakeholder Include Vidya Campaign.

The rally started on 30th March 2016 from Cape Comorin, the southernmost Indian state of Tamil Nadu in Kanyakumari District. Mr. A. Gnanasekar, Public Prosecutor of Kanyakumari District, flagged the rally with children from C.S.I. Deaf School, Kanyakumari, under pristine blue sky and waves in the backdrop.

The bikers will travel from Kanyakumari to Chennai, via Madurai and Trichy, spreading the message of inclusive education.  The rally will conclude at the State Resource Centre at Santhome, Chennai, with a press meet and handing over of the recommendations to officials of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) on 1st April 2016.

The Include Vidya Campaign has a simple mission that children with disabilities must be able to access their right to education just like their non-disabled peers and this is only possible if government, teachers, parents and non-governmental organisations came together to find solutions.

The Campaign goes beyond enrolment to active learning, participation in the classroom as well as the playing field and other extra-curricular activities. It complements SSA, aimed at achieving "Education for all".
