Goa hosted the ‘3rd National Judo Championship for the blind and deaf’ from March 19th to 22st, 2015. 312 Judokas (players) from 17 states took part in the championship. Uttar Pradesh won the Sub-Junior and Junior level Championship. Haryana bagged the Senior level championship.

About the championships

The 3rd National Judo Championship was organised by Goa Blind and Para Judo Association under the auspices of India Blind and Para Judo Association and Sports Authority of Goa from March 19 to 22, 2015 at the Multipurpose Hall, Peddem Complex, Goa. The event was inaugurated by the Dy. Chief Minister of Goa, Mr Francis D’Souza.
 
Judokas from 17 states comprising of 312 players, 60 team managers, coaches and 32 technical officials and 38 volunteers participated in the event.

Winners

In the Sub Junior Level, Uttar Pradesh were the champions and bagged 11 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze and Haryana won 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.

In the Junior Level again Uttar Pradesh were the Champions by winning 6 Gold,1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals and the hosts Goa were runners up with 3 Gold,4 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.

In the Senior Level, the Haryana team bagged the first place with 5 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze while Tamil Nadu became runners up with 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medal.

Secretary (DEPwD), Government of India, Shri Glenn Ticlo, Shri Sudhir Halwasiya, General Secretary, U.P. Blind and Para Judo Association and Special Guest from Korea, Mr.Geoung Gisick, General Secretary, Korean Blind Judo Association, graced the occasion with their esteemed presence.

Supporting sports initiatives

In CBM, we firmly believe sports bring about social inclusion. It helps in acquiring social skills,  and  also assists individuals in effective communication, building self Confidence, self-esteem, co-operation and goal setting. Sports enable the person to take part and learn how to manage failure and success in a safe and supportive environment, which increases motivation and independence. 

CBM was proud to be part of this event as a sponsor and appreciates the commitment and achievements of each and every participant and their coaches. We also thank  the organisers for providing such a wonderful platform for children and persons with disabilities to showcase their talents.
