Since inception CBM has striven to eliminate the barriers that exclude persons with disabilities from social participation.
CBM is a disability and development organisation, with over a fifty years of experience.
CBM has been working in India through CBM India Trust since 1994. CBM India Trust was registered in 1994 for social, educational and economic activities. CBM works in 26 states of India for the health, education, livelihoods and inclusion of persons with disabilities without any discrimination on religion, gender, community, caste or creed. CBM reaches over 2 million people a year working with government and local partners to transform the lives of persons with disabilities. It was instrumental in the launch of Vision 2020 – The Right to Sight, a global campaign launched in1999 to eliminate avoidable blindness. CBM India received an award from the Government of India for its exemplary contribution towards the elimination of avoidable blindness in 2004. CBM India Trust is registered under the Indian Trust Act 1882 and have been working in various parts of the country. We have 80G, FCRA and 12A/AA certifications.
We have received The Zero Project Innovation Award 2017 at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna for innovative practices on creating self-employment and livelihood opportunities across India.
We have also been recognized by Government of India and empanelled under ‘Accessible India campaign’ as a technical expert in the field of promoting accessible environment.
CBM is recognised and registered with GuideStar and NGO Darpan.
